Choose Fasting Tracker if you want

  • A fasting timer without logging every meal
  • No account, no ads and no data used to track you
  • An iPad or iPhone Duo app, or iOS 17 support
  • To pay once for Pro, instead of a subscription

Choose Simple if you want

  • An AI assistant and a coaching program
  • To log meals, activity and water in one app
  • Quizzes, workbooks and lessons on habits
  • A broad weight-loss app rather than a fasting app

Two different kinds of app

Simple's App Store listing calls it an AI weight-loss coach and doesn't use the word fasting; its help pages explain how to log fasts from its Track page. Its free version, its help says, lets you log fasts, meals, hydration, weight and activity, with more in Pro and Premium. Fasting Tracker does one thing: it times your fast and shows the stage your body may be in, with your streak, history, weight and water.

Price

The US App Store lists Simple Pro at $14.99 to $49.99, Simple Premium at $29.99 and $59.99, and a Workbooks Bundle at $29.99. Simple's help says it offers monthly, quarterly, 9-month and yearly plans, with prices shown at checkout, so we can't say which price covers which period. Fasting Tracker Pro is $6.99 a month, $29.99 a year (about $2.50 a month) with a free first week, or $79.99 once for life.

Privacy and age rating

Every App Store listing has an App Privacy label, filled in by the developer. "Data Used to Track You" means data linked with other companies' apps, websites or data for advertising, or shared with data brokers. "Contains Advertising" appears in the age-rating details when an app shows ads. Fasting Tracker's label lists no data used to track you; it does link purchase history, identifiers, product interaction and crash data to you, for analytics you can turn off in Settings.

Simple's label lists data used to track you, including purchase history, coarse location, email address, user ID and product interaction, and its age rating lists "Contains Advertising". Its terms say you must be at least 18 to create an account, and it's rated 18+ on the App Store. Fasting Tracker is rated 9+ and needs no account.

Devices

Simple runs on iPhone with iOS 18.3 or later, Apple Watch and Apple Vision, without an iPad app. Fasting Tracker needs iOS 17 and runs on iPhone, iPad, iPhone Duo and Apple Watch.

Questions

Is Simple a fasting app?

Simple describes itself as an AI weight-loss coach. It lets you log fasts, but also meals, water, weight and activity. Fasting Tracker is a dedicated fasting timer.

Is Fasting Tracker a good alternative to Simple?

If you mostly use Simple to time your fasts, Fasting Tracker does that for free with stages, streaks, widgets and the Apple Watch app. If you want food logging and an AI coach, Simple does more.

Does Simple work on iPad?

Simple's listing lists iPhone, Apple Watch and Apple Vision, not iPad. Fasting Tracker has an iPad app.

Can I move my fasts from Simple?

If you can export your fasts as a spreadsheet or JSON file, Fasting Tracker can import them: choose Another app in Import fasts and check the columns it matched.

Zero, Simple, Fastic, BodyFast, FastEasy and Window are trademarks of their owners. Fasting Tracker isn't affiliated with, sponsored or endorsed by any of them; their names and icons appear only to identify the apps compared.

A note on health

Fasting Tracker is designed for general wellness and is not a medical device. Fasting is not right for everyone. If you are pregnant, diabetic, have a history of eating disorders or take medication, talk to your doctor first, and before any extended fast.
